St. Paul’s United Church

Community Groups

Our church is open to the community. We have several meeting spaces, a kitchen, a stage, and a gym available for use. Here are some of the groups that use our space.

4th Midland Scouts

4th Midland Scouting was established on Oct. 31, 1958, at St. Paul’s United Church. For the past 15 years, Scouting has been co-ed. 4th Midland Scouting offers all five sections of Scouting, and all of them run out of St. Paul’s. The five levels of Scouting include Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers.

All leaders are required to pass a Police Record Check, Reference Check and a Personal Interview before becoming a leader. At least one member from each section will hold a current first aid/CPR certificate. Scouts Canada provides continuous training for all registered leaders.

Midland Small Set

Founded in 1981, Small Set Cooperative Nursery School is a not-for-profit licensed preschool offering half day childcare in Midland, Ontario. Parents take an active role in creating a nurturing community optimal for learning. Our program is run by caregivers who engage children in play-based learning with curiosity, empathy and respect.  Activities and experiences are developmentally-appropriate and support children’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional learning.  We operate out of our bright and spacious classroom in St. Paul’s Church in the heart of downtown Midland.

Seventh Day Adventists

The Midland Adventists Company have worshipped in our parlour for many years.  During the pandemic they have not been worshipping in person.  We have not yet heard when they are coming back.

Sistema Huronia

Sistema is an established and free after-school music program for students in grades 3 to 8 that promotes personal growth through music. It uses the classical music ensemble experience to achieve positive social change for youth.

Sistema Huronia runs out of St. Paul’s United Church on King Street in Midland. We currently have over 30 students who are having the time of their lives playing violins, violas, cellos and even a double bass. They are the only children’s string orchestra in the Midland area. It’s a joy to hear the great sound these children make.
