United Church Women

The United Church Women was formed over 40 years ago from two existing groups, the Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies' Auxiliary, thus combining the focus of these two organizations - local church work and missions work.  We meet regularly to study, plan projects and for fellowship. We are a major fund-raiser in our church through funeral receptions, garage sales, and bakeless sales. They also purchased a display case for some artifacts from the United Church in Penetanguishene. The UCW host fellowship time following church on a regular basis, assist with the Roast Beef dinner and local soup kitchens and visit friends and members of St. Paul's. They are strong supporters of the Mission and Service fund, the Benevolent fund of St. Paul's, Camp Simpresca, Massey House, 'the Guest House', Sleeping Children Around The World and the St. Paul's drop-in centre. You can learn more about the UCW from Louise in our church office.

Activities in 2019
The United Church Women met ten times during 2019 with an average attendance of 20 - 25 members. The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, except for July and August. Many inspirational and interesting speakers from various walks of life presented at our meetings. We are planning another year with speakers from the area and all women from the congregation are welcome.
The UCW continued to support many organizations both locally and internationally. We also continue to contribute $5,000 annually to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church and continue to cater for luncheons and funeral teas. We supply ten loaves of sandwiches per week during the month of August for the Gift of Grace Soup Kitchen.
Our Christmas potluck lunch was enjoyed by UCW members and church staff. A new portable speaker system was introduced and enhances the sound for those with hearing difficulties. Socks for the Guest House were collected at that meeting.
Our Garage Sales will continue, but we will need help from members of the congregation. The date for the next event is June 6th with set up on June 5 th. If you can give us a hand, please contact Carol Isard at 705-526-2903. Many hands make light work.
